Where Conversation Meets Connection

I love a dinner party. Whether at someone’s fabulous home or a restaurant I’ve had saved on my Google maps. I love connecting with people who I might not have ever met before that night. In a world where we all live on our phones, chatting with a new friend reminds us why living in the physical world gives us perspective and experiences that simply cannot be replicated… in most cases.

At the heart of Fluency is conversation and conversation. But in an increasingly fast-paced world, how do creators connect with their audiences at scale without losing their authenticity? That's where Fluency comes in, creating an AI tool that makes personalized connection possible for creators with every single one of their followers.

Our Friends of Fluency series is the opportunity for creators to collaborate with us as we build a company together that gives AI a human touch, and in this case, taste!

The Setting: Quarters

On a humid summer evening in June, we hosted our first Friends of Fluency Supper Club,  at Quarters, a design showroom- turned dining space in the heart of TriBeca. We started with champagne in one of  the dimly lit, mid-century modern spaces as guests arrived, a mix of fashion enthusiasts,  DTC brand experts and creators.

Rebecca Jarrett, who manages marketing at the influencer-affiliate platform, ShopMy, and is the creator of the fashion Substack, Wardrobe Thirteen, arrived first in a black peplum top and chic straight leg trousers. Black must have been the theme for the night (although, I was in a loudly embroidered Chopva Lowena cotton dress!), as Shelcy of @Nycxclothes wore a gorgeous black, body-con maxi dress with a summertime floral print. Other chic attendees included fashion tastemaker, Brian Solis, the founder of Your Circle of Friends, Hilliary Bianca Salamanca, Tibi Stylist, Graciela Molina, Margaux's head of product development, Olivia Crowley Gottlieb, and Skintellect founder, Delanique Millwood.

After a brief tour of the space, we were seated at a long table decorated with Fluency x Ossa phone chains, and our tongue-in-cheek tote bags reading “This tote bag gets better open rates than your newsletter.” Being a text-based brand, we had to!

A Night of Firsts

While we sipped on cocktails and marveled at the picture perfect crudités, I introduced Fluency and our activity for the evening. Fluency’s purpose is to give creators the ability to connect with their followers 1-1 at scale via text. Using AI that catalogs the influencer’s entire online presence (Instagram, YouTube, ShopMy), allows technology to effectively scale their reach through personalized conversations.

To test the experience, each person at the dinner table had their own personas created so they could try out the AI- conversation aspect of Fluency. Each of their personas texted the group a unique, tailored question related to their industry. As everyone responded, their AI led the conversation from there.  What followed was laughter, curiosity, and the realization that this technology wasn’t replacing personality, it was amplifying.

To kick it off, Rebecca read Delanique's AI question via text, “What is your most controversial take on skincare routines?” and Rebecca responded, "Most people's routines have too many products."

Delanique's AI responded to Rebecca with  “Facts, some routines just feel like a full time job, I say keep it simple, just what makes you feel good and glowy, no need for 10+ steps unless you really enjoy it.” Delanique, peering over Rebecca’s shoulder seeing her AI in action, responded “That is exactly what I would say!”

It was this kind of interaction that perfectly captured Fluency’s mission: making creators more scalable, not less human. Throughout the night, attendees continued to converse with each other's AI, finding out new information about each other and discussing the future possibilities that Fluency holds for them as creators.

See you at the next Supper Club

As we expand the Supper Club series, each gathering will explore a new dimension of what it means to build a community through conversation. Whether it’s founders connecting directly with fans, or creators turning audience data into personalized storytelling.

For everyone who joined us at Quarters: thank you for being part of Fluency’s first chapter.
